PRESS RELEASE

It’s 1966 and Manhattan is a glorious playground for artists, where it feels like anything is possible. The Vietnam war rages on while America reels in shock from the assassination of JFK years before. Civil Rights Movement protests spread across the country and inspire a new generation of African Americans.

Against this fragile backdrop of hope and uncertainty, artists begin to descend on the expansive loft spaces across Manhattan, relics from New York’s long-gone industrial past. City Nights: Party at the Silver Factory, 1966 is a new immersive theatre show, where glam meets grunge in an artist’s warehouse, all inspired by Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory.

Hang out in the loft with our cast of superstar characters – from drag queens, writers, bohemians, artists and art collectors. Join their DIY film shoot, sit on the sidelines with a confused journalist from The New Yorker, sip American cocktails, find a hidden artists bedroom and take part in life drawing as the former debutante, now film star Brigid Berlin poses and performs. There are rumours the landlord will make another visit tonight – but the party guests continue regardless.

This is immersive theatre with a difference: audiences are free to roam, explore, get creative and be part of the action if they choose. Then dance until late as the party gets underway.
